Saranac Lake Winter Carnival history - the recent years as seen through the lens of Mark Kurtz
As the Winter Carnival photographer for 30 years, starting in 1991 and going through 2020, Mark Kurtz has seen some changes over the years, both in his photography of Carnival, and in Carnival itself, especially if compared to the early years of Winter Carnival (late 1890s/turn of the century) Mark will be talking, and showing images, about his experience of photographing the Winter Carnival and producing the closing slide show around the time of the turn of the 21st century, and making some comparisons to Winter Carnival at the turn of the 20th century.
Kurtz will be presenting on two dates around Winter Carnival - February 4th at the Saranac Lake Free Library Cantwell Community Room at noon and then again on February 9th at Historic Saranac Lake’s John Black Room at 7:00PM.
